Peanut Butter Pie

No bake Peanut butter pie with toppings

Reeses no bake peanut butter pie

Peanut butter pie: so very easy, and so yummy. Classic peanut butter and chocolate is one of the great combos of the food world. At least, that’s how my husband Dave sees life. The perfect match made in heaven. Every year he asks for some variance of a peanut butter and chocolate treat for his birthday.

Some years, it’s a chocolate cake with loads of peanut butter drizzle and Reeses cups. One year I made him a decadent peanut butter cheesecake. He loved the year I made him peanut butter brownies.

I even made him peanut butter fudge one time, the same recipe my grandma always used to make.

This year he opted for something a little lighter, like a fluffy peanut butter mousse pie. I knew this one was a hit, and bound to make the birthday requests again. I knew it needed a permanent spot on the blog. This way I can share this yummy (and easy) recipe with you too.

This pie is so light and fluffy, but definitely still rich and decadent. The Oreo pie crust adds the chocolate balance, and the fun happens with the toppings you choose to add.

This easy homemade no bake peanut butter chocolate pie is bound to make your birthday treat rotation too.

What you’ll need:

  • peanut butter: any kind of commercial peanut butter will work, creamy or crunchy. Just don’t use natural peanut butter, the oil separates and won’t turn out right for the pie
  • cream cheese: the rich and creamy, tangy base for this mousse-like pie
  • powdered sugar: sweetens up the peanut butter and cream cheese to create the perfect dessert
  • whipped topping (such as Cool Whip) or heavy cream (whipped until firm): either can be used, both make it light and smooth
  • Oreos: to make the chocolate crust (can sub chocolate graham crackers)
  • butter: melted and mixed with the oreos to make the crust
  • toppings: melted chocolate, melted peanut butter, chopped mini Reeses cups, mini chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, etc.
  • 9″ pie plate

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350o F

    3. Place cookies in food processor and blend until finely ground. Pour into a bowl, add melted butter and mix with a spoon. Press mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool completely.
    4. Make the filling:

    5. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine peanut butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Beat until fluffy.
    6. (If using heavy whipping cream instead of whipped topping, whip heavy cream in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.)
    7. Gently fold whipped topping (or whipped heavy cream) into the peanut butter mixture. Pour into prepared pie shell and chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
    8. Drizzle melted peanut butter and melted chocolate over pie. Top with chopped Reeses peanut butter cups, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, and chopped peanuts if desired. Chill several hours in fridge. Serve frozen or refrigerated. Peanut butter pie

    Notes

    • *A premade chocolate pie crust can be substituted
    • Whipped topping (like Cool Whip) can definitely be substituted by homemade whipped heavy cream
    • Add as many or as few of the optional toppings as you’d like. I think it’s fun and extra fancy to pile them high on top, but the pie is delicious on its own if you choose.
