Homemade apple dessert
apple pudding cake

This apple pudding cake is so simple, but smells like home. This is a family recipe I grew up with, and it still takes me back every time I make it. When we spent the year traveling with our teenagers in Europe, I surprised everyone with this cake one day. It was the perfect way to bring a little but of home with us!

This apple cake recipe doesn’t use a lot of ingredients, so we were able to find everything and make it anywhere we have traveled. Every time I make this apple cake, it makes me think of autumn when the apples are ripe. However, this cake is delicious at any time.

The name calls it Apple Pudding Cake, but there isn’t really any pudding part to it. This is just a deliciously moist cake with juicy apple chunks and a crunchy cinnamon layer on top. The perfect yummy comfort food!

      Notes

      • This apple pudding cake is a perfect snacking cake. It lasts really well, and can be stored on the counter or in the refrigerator as well.

If you are looking for a no-bake dessert instead, my husband would highly suggest my homemade Peanut Butter Pie. He is a huge fan of chocolate and peanut butter and this hits the spot in summer.

Another old fashioned recipe my family loves for some good nostalgia is my grandpa’s favorite Oatmeal cookies. My grandpa ate oatmeal every morning for breakfast, so it’s amazing he still loved oatmeal in his cookies!
